Indian Kings: Chandragupt Maurya (Vol. 2)
Chandragupta Maurya was the founder of the Maurya Empire and one of the greatest rulers in ancient Indian history. Born around 340 BCE, he rose from humble beginnings to establish a vast and powerful empire across the Indian subcontinent. With the guidance and support of the wise scholar Chanakya, Chandragupta defeated the Nanda dynasty and laid the foundation of the Mauryan Empire. His leadership, military strength and administrative abilities helped unite large parts of India under one central authority for the first time in history. He is remembered for creating a strong system of governance, maintaining law, order and economic stability, and establishing diplomatic relations with foreign kingdoms, including the Greek ruler Seleucus I. In his later years he is believed to have embraced Jainism and spent his final days in spiritual practices.
