Behind the Wrong Emergency Call

By Adeeba Rashid

When radio host Samar Joshi spots a supposedly missing stranger in the background of a wildlife livestream from a remote Western Ghats research camp, what begins as a six-week assignment fractures into a spiral of viral accusations, unclaimed courier parcels, and an anonymous account that knows every secret before Samar does. Reunited with an ex-best friend who carries buried reasons for leaving town, Samar must decide how far forgiveness can stretch when a family member may have rewritten someone else's carefully planned disappearance into something far darker. The public narrative mutates faster than the private truth, and the most damning evidence turns out to belong to an entirely different crime. In the dense silence of the Ghats, identity is the easiest thing to lose and the most dangerous thing to find.
