After the Night Train List

By Adeeba Rashid

When 21-year-old documentary editor Vihaan Malhotra discovers a rental agreement signed in their own handwriting under a stranger's name in the crumbling old quarter of Lucknow, the past they carefully edited out of their life begins to bleed back in. An ex-best friend who knows too much offers help that feels more like a trap, and a community's shared memory of one catastrophic night starts to look like a coordinated lie. As a viral scandal reshapes the public story faster than Vihaan can chase the private truth, a sequence of unclaimed courier parcels and a rescued dog pull them toward a reckoning with the person everyone believed was gone forever. In a world where identity is a post and reputation is a currency, Vihaan must decide what is worth protecting and what was never really theirs to keep.
