A Version of the Truth: A Campus Secret This Monsoon

By Prashant Mishra

Zain Merchant arrives at a wildlife research camp in the Western Ghats expecting six quiet weeks and a break from the theatre world that keeps casting him second. Instead, he discovers that every member of an old college group chat deleted the same seven days of messages, and the only person who knows why is the ex-best friend who vanished without a word three years ago. As the monsoon thickens the forest and a rival turns their investigation into a live-streamed competition, Zain races to expose a family fortune built on forged land records, only to find that solving the mystery means confessing a secret far more damaging than the crime he set out to uncover. A Version of the Truth is a dark, pulse-quickening social media thriller about ambition, loyalty, and the terrifying speed at which a public story can outrun the private one.
